Hi. I'm using Firefox 51.0.1 (64-bits) on ubuntu 16.04 64 bits as its own webserver. I am using geonames, but the screen shows an error message that looks related to a missing google-maps api key. Already got an apikey, but cannot find a place to paste it.

Google now requires a key for Maps for the v3 API. We will have an update to deal with this soon.

    Temporary solution:
There is a google section in file app/conf/assets.conf. (Copy it into app/conf/local for future updates.) Add your API key to maps element, like this:
  • Same issue here.

There is a assets.conf in both Pawtucket & Providence app/conf folders. Both have Google map config.

Tried adding my key to both, neither option seems to make a difference.

  • I've been trying different ideas for a couple of days now, the API Key seems to authenticate now but JS debug returns this:

Uncaught ReferenceError: MarkerClusterer is not defined
        at HTMLDocument.<anonymous> (1:333)
        at fire (jquery.js:3048)
        at Object.fireWith [as resolveWith] (jquery.js:3160)
        at Function.ready (jquery.js:433)
        at HTMLDocument.completed (jquery.js:104)

Any thoughts or fixes at this time?
  • What changes did you make?
  • I reverted back to the original code and started over, only change made at this point is the addition of adding the key as described by szablac.

The Google Maps JS error no longer shows in the map placeholder, it is just a solid gray box.

  • Ok great. Just to be clear, where did you get your Providence and Pawtucket code? If on GitHub, which branches?
  • Sorry about not including that...

New install from GitHub this weekend.

    Providence 1.6.3 w/ Dublincore2014
  • Both are master branch? master-fix? or develop?

  • Apologies again, there's a lag in info since I'm relaying some of this from another party that's involved.
