Browse page: adding facet content directly / no javascript pop-up

edited September 2013 in Pawtucket
I'm building out a Browse page and want to pull the contents of each facet type directly onto the Browse page itself, rather than use the javascript popup [which with jQuery 1.9 migration is giving some problems anyway].

Eg, for the facet Object Types, I'd like a list that includes what they are: book, comic, et al.

I've customized browse.conf to include the type_facets I want to pull from in the ca_objects table.

How can I get these to then list out on the Browse page when it loads, before a user navigates into a Browse search? Do I need to build a new ... call of some kind in the Browse_controller or in the browse_html.php page [or both?]

Secondly, with the jQuery 1.9 migration, I'm not quite clear on which .js to remove to take down the pop-up browser window without accidentally breaking another jQuery.

I see there is a fix for this for the Splash page on another recent thread, but I'm not clear if that solution applies to this issue cleanly. Ideas?
