Quickstart Installation Unzip Problem

edited August 2014 in Installation
I downloaded the Quickstart for windows zip file. I'm trying to unzip it so I can install it. When I try to extract it, I get the following error message:

An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

Error 0x80010135: Path too long

._add-environmental-variables
Type: windows command script
Date modified: 3/12/2014 5:01 PM
Size: 222 bytes

I have the option to try again (doesn't work), skip, or cancel. Suggestions?

Thanks, Matt Baumer

  •  Is there a full path displayed for that file anywhere. You might want to skip it and see what happens. That is a support file for one of the libraries CA uses and shouldn't cause problems it it's absent.
  • I skipped it and another similar file. Now, however, I got the same message with three microsoft .dll files... those may be more important?

Is the path too long because I'm installing this to a subdirectory? Should I be putting it in a folder closer to root?
  • I redid the install, extracting the files to a directory I created: C:\CA. No problems and the extraction went fine, so advice is to use a short directory name!.

However, when I click on START COLLECTIVEACCESS app, the XAMPP control panel opens, but it doesn't look like everything is loading correctly. Below is the log; I'm attaching the error logs for MySQL, PHP and Apache:

  • I think the problem is that you need to install the "XAMPP" folder on c:\, not in a sub directory.
