Default user dashboard

Is there anyway to create a default dashboard that new users get?
Or copy to/from users their dashboard settings/layout?

Comments

  • Not currently. The dashboard is something that for now each user gets to set up and customize for themselves.
  • Any chance of this happening yet?
    Anyway to manual do this via mysql?

  • No it's not something that has been on our radar. Please create a JIRA for it and we'll see about adding support for this.

  • PROV-2679
    In the meanwhile, can the layout be manually copied from one user to another?

  • No it can't

  • Can you tell me why this doesn't work - it doesn't actually save any changes. I stuck this in user_edit_html.php
    It does read and build the user's dashboard correctly, just doesn't save it (I can read back the user's dashboard_config correctly with the changes after setting them)

    What I did was create a user called "template", setup Template's dashboard with widgets, then edit another user and try to copy the dashboard template over.

    <?php $template_user = new ca_users("template"); $var="dashboard_config"; if($_POST['copy_template']){ $ndashboard_config =[]; $dashboard_config = $template_user->getVar($var); foreach($dashboard_config['columns'] as $pn_column=>$cols){ foreach($cols as $ckey=>$col){ $ndashboard_config['columns'][$pn_column][] = array( 'widget' => $col['widget'], 'widget_id' => md5($col['widget'].time().rand(0,100000).$pn_column.sizeof($dashboard_config['columns'][$pn_column])), 'settings' => is_array($col['settings']) ? $col['settings'] : array() ); }//foreach $cols }//foreach $dashboard... $t_user->setVar($var, $ndashboard_config); $t_user->update(); }//if $_POST... echo""; ?>

  • (sorry it mashed the code together)
