Show different field on Thumbnails in results

edited May 2016 in Pawtucket
Hello,

I'm interested in adding the option of showing another metadata field below the thumbnails in my search results. Currently, if I browse historic properties, there might be any number of properties where the preferred_label or "Historic Name" is blank or unknown. I'd like to create the capability of showing another metadata field below the preferred_labels field so as to make the thumbnail list more illuminating. In my case, I'd like to enable the field ca_objects.address so that browsers can see a property address like "1 Awesome Way, Crazy Town, Silly State" below the "unknown" designation.

I've attached a picture of a search results page to show what I'm getting at the moment.

This is the code I've tried in my Browse.conf

browseTypes = {

objects = {
displayName = _(Historic Properties |),
labelSingular = _("property"),
  labelPlural = _("properties"),
table = ca_objects,
restrictToTypes = [historicproperty],
availableFacets = [place_facet_hier, century_facet, decade_facet, year_facet],
# formats available for display of results
# possible values are: images, list, timeline, map
views = {
images = {
display = {
title_template = <l>^ca_objects.preferred_labels.name</l> (^ca_objects.Address),
description_template = <p>^ca_objects.Address</p>,
image = ^ca_object_representations.media.small,
icon = ^ca_object_representations.media.icon
}
},
list = {},
},

  • Hi msjonesking,

    You can do this by editing Browse/browse_results_images_html.php
  • Thank you!
  • Is there a similar one for search results?
  • Yes, Search/ca_objects_search_subview_html.php, Search/ca_entities_search_subview_html.php etc as specified in your search.conf file.
  • So, that worked for changing the broad search of the site, but not the advanced search page results.
  • The advanced search page results use the same views as browse (Browse/browse_results_images_html.php).
  • That makes sense. However, I don't see any change in my advanced search page results. I do see changes on my browse results and my general search results though.
  • Never mind, I updated the browse_results_list_html, and that solved it. Thanks.
