detail page blackbar in place of full size image

Hi,

I am seeing a black bar instead of the full size image on each detail page that has multiple images. The thumbnails are visible but the full size image does not appear even after clicking on the thumbnails. This is not a problem with an object that only has one media representation.

This problem has recently occurred after updating to Providence 1.7 and Pawtucket 2 v1.7. I might be missing something simple in the update, but I have not figured out what went wrong.

I have provided an image to show what the detail page looks like.

Thanks!
Hagan

  • Hi Hagan,

This was fixed with a recent update - when was the last time you did a pull?
  • Hi Sophie,

Our version of Providence is 1.6 and I think Pawtucket is 1.6 too, but that may be incorrect. Both Providence and Pawtucket come from the latest versions circa August 2016. I have tried updating our database to Providence 1.7.3 and Pawtucket 1.7, but I am still seeing the black bar. Should I try updating to an older version first?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Hagan,

When did you last pull the code for Pawtucket 1.7?  Did you clear your browser's cache after you did so?
  • Hi Sophie,

I have only this week tried to update to Pawtucket2 v1.7. This week I pulled the official release of v1.7 and also the official release of Providence 1.7.3. To clarify, I believe I am currently using Pawtucket2 v1.6. I have cleared my browser's cache after updating, but that hasn't changed anything.

I can send a copy of my database, if needed.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Hagan,

I think that your system is trying to use the Universal Viewer when you have more than a few images.  In media_display.conf try setting the option use_universal_viewer_for_image_list_length_at_least to a large number to prevent it from loading the doc viewer.
  • Hi Sophie,

Thanks for the tip, changing the use_universal_viewer_for_image_list_length_at_least to a larger number fixed the black bar problem. I had overlooked that option, but I suspected a setting had changed after updating Pawtucket.

    Thanks again!
