Trouble getting the media connection working

I installed Providence without any problem and wanted to add the Pawtucket afterwards.
As I do not have access to symlink, I wanted to use the workaround with the conf file. It doesnt seem to work though. When I access the Pawtucket page, I get the error It looks like the media directory is not writable by the webserver.

I set them like this:

ca_media_url_root = /media/collectiveaccess

ca_media_root_dir = home/httpd/vhosts/myusername/media/collectiveaccess

I tried a lot of different things and stuff I found in the forum to no avail.
