Searchability of date ranges

Hello,

I have the following problem;

When saving an entity with a date range, say 1962 - 1968, i can only find it if I search for 1962 or 1968, but if i enter a number between, there are no search results.

I also tried it on the demo version without any luck. Is ist possible to change the configuration somehow to make it display entities that are between this date range?

  • If you are just searching on the date as text then it'll only match it as text, which means only "1962" or "1968" will work. Dates are only search as actual dates taking into account ranges if you qualify the search with the field name. If it's the entity "lifespan" field you're entering these dates into you'll need to first configure it to be indexed (it's not by default) then either use the underlying code in a search:

    ca_entities.lifespan:1965 (to search for people living in 1965)

    You can make the field code nicer by creating a simper alias for it in the access point list in search_indexing.conf.

  • ok, its kinda what i thought. Thanks!
