Error translation

Good afternoon.

I’ve been testing CollectiveAccess so I could install and use in the institution I work for. The version I’ve been testing is Providence 1.7.6 and I use the 69.0.3497.100 version of Google Chrome for navigator.
I have installed a 100% Brazilian portuguese translator in the “aap/locale/pt_BR” file using the “messages.po” and “messagens.mo” archives (the ones that can be seen as 1 and 2 as attachments to this email), but when selecting Português (Brasil) [Portuguese (Brazil)] as the idiom (as seen in attachment 3) some metadata are configurated in french (as seen in attachments 4 and 5).
It would be very helpful if I could get directions on how to solve this issue.
Thank you.

  • What profile are you using? The translations for the examples you sent are set in the profile and/or the configuration GUI, as they are custom terms, so you'll want to override it/check the translation there.

  • Thank you but where can I find the GUI configuration? From the manage Menu/Administration, User Interfaces, and Metadata Elements?

  • Types, as shown in your screenshot of the "New" menu are located under Manage > Lists and vocabularies. Screens, as shown in your second screenshot, are editable via Manage > Administration > User Interfaces > Edit interfaces > Screen (Edit)

  • Thank you, Julia, we translated the metadata and it works just fine! But some menus are still in French, how can I fix this? Thank you again.

  • Screens, as shown in your first screenshot, are editable via Manage > Administration > User Interfaces > Edit interfaces > Screen (Edit). Types, as shown in your second screenshot of the "New" menu are located under Manage > Lists and vocabularies.

  • Thank you so much, Julia, the translations we did are working perfectly!
I just want to know if there is a way to incorporate the translations to the code. I’ll have to set the translations manually all over again if I install the software in another museum on my university? Is there a way we can apply the translations we already did to eventual new installations without having to set it ourselves again? Do I have to make the translation directly on the “spectrum.xml” file before a new installation?

  • Yes, if you'd like to edit the translations for custom elements (such as fields, screen labels or list items) in your configuration it must be done in the installation profile, in other words: a custom version of the spectrum.xml file.
