Moving Boxes

I am sure I am overlooking something, but here is my issue. I have to move envelopes from one box to another as well as moving some boxes to another room and would like to update my CollectiveAccess instance accordingly. Both the envelopes and the boxes are part of my storage hierarchy, but I do not seem to be able to easily change a box or an envelope with all of its contents to a new location in CA. I would expect something like a move button in addition to the add button, but there is none. What am I overlooking? I do not want to go with movement tracking if I can avoid it.

Can't you just move the location to another room using the "move" tab in the hierarchy browser?

  • That is what I would have thought, but there is no move tab. I looked at the hierarchy viewer under New> Storage Locations. Is there another place I should go to?

  • Yes, edit the storage location directly.

  • But the browser there only shows an explore tab...

  • Ah ok. You'll need to add the "hierarchy location" bundle to your editor then. There are two hierarchy browsers that can be placed within the storage location editor. "Hierarchy location" includes tools to create new records and move existing ones. "Hierarchy navigation" only allows "exploring" of hierarchies. It sounds like you only have the latter set to show in your location editor.

  • That was it. I knew it was something straightforward. Thanks...
