Jcarousel Issues, Details Object Page

Hi -- I have been happily entering images for various new objects in system, sometimes only one, occasionally two images. Recently, I needed to add four and apparently this triggered the system in Pawtucket for the item’s detail objects page to utilize jcarousel whereas seemingly with less uploaded images, the system uses Media. Overlay Tile Viewer. Now, the main image does not appear, only a horizontal black rectangle, 17 pixels high. The thumbnails do appear correctly. The carousel seems to function properly, but I am not seeing the main images. Digging deeper, I see that images are generated in base64 and embedded css uses background-image: url(data:image/gif;base64. Also there are iframe tags. My server is Ubuntu. Any leads on where to look to fix this? Thanks!

  • Upon further investigation, it seems it is an issue of the iframe not displaying properly for the Mirador viewer on the object details page, loading only 17px high for some reason. Using inspect in Chrome, I change the height of the iframe manually to 150px revealing the contents of the Mirador viewer, so it was there all along just masked. Anyhow, it seems the switch from Tile Viewer to Mirador is controlled by the following entry from my theme's media_display.conf. I switched it to a higher number which although not fixing the Mirador display issues, reverted my image display back to Tile Viewer which suits my purposes. :)

    use_universal_viewer_for_image_list_length_at_least = 4

  • Hi,
    I've the same issue, for some objects with multiple media, a black horizontal rectangle instead of the image.
    But I don't understand how you fix it: at which line of media_display.conf did you insert this?
    Thank you a lot.

  • Hi,

    In Pawtucket, /themes/[my_custom_theme]/conf/media_display.conf, line 164. Again, this doesn’t fix the Mirador display problem, just keeps the image display using Tile Viewer for under a higher number of detail images. I set mine to “8” - Tile Viewer is basic but does the job.
