REST API: upload files?

Hi,
it seems that one can not upload files via REST API, is that correct? If so, this is a major drawback for our REST API based import attempts.

Could you give some starting points for implementing file uploads? I'm know nothing about Zend framework but otherwise I think I'm able to find my way around PHP code.
Any hints are very welcome.

  • Correct, you cannot upload a file directly. What you can do at the moment is set media using a URL.

When using URLs, make sure allow_fetching_of_media_from_remote_urls is set in app.conf. CA will fetch the media from the URL and copy it as if it were directly uploaded.

If you require direct uploads via services please create a ticket for it on JIRA (https://clangers.collectiveaccess.org). If you have specific suggestions for how uploads should work please let us know. The services API is long overdue for an overhaul.

    Thanks Seth!

Direct uploads would work better for us, since we could work directly from local drive (4TB of images). I'll create a ticket and cross my fingers.

    Best,
    Ari

  • There's not as much luck involved with this as you think :-)

  • I made a JIRA ticket with suggestion how it could work: clangers.collectiveaccess.org/jira/browse/PROV-2580
I'm glad that luck has nothing to do with this
