Database exception errors

I just recently installed Providence locally on my laptop to test.
I haven't been able to complete installation because when I go to "localhost/providence" I keep getting the error (in Log):
"ERROR --> DatabaseException: No such file or directory"
I have MySQL running, and have checked the database settings and user settings. I'm a little stumped as to where I should look for the error. Maybe I did something wrong in the setup.php ? So far I have not found a similar issue on forums.

I'm on MacOS10.13.6, Safari 12.
