How to set the current user as the default value in a text datatype element?

I've been hunting around the Wiki and Forum, but I'm not finding this. Does anyone know how to set the current user as the default value in a text datatype element? We're trying to auto-populate "Cataloged By".

Thank you,
John

  • There's no way to do this at present. Create a JIRA for it and we can add support for it.

    Thanks

  • Implemented in GitHub develop. You can now use the following tags in default text for metadata elements:

    ^currentuser.fname (user's first name)
    ^currentuser.lname (user's last name)
    ^currentuser.email (user's email address)
    ^currentuser.user_name (user's login name)

    Thanks Seth!
