Browse configuration

We have the following browse.conf configuration for the 'browse by gender' functionality. This browse returns objects where any of the object's entity's has the selected gender attribute. We would like to restrict the browse by gender functionality to only return objects for selected entity types - for example only Artist.

can we use the suppress facet key or type_restrictions key to achieve this? Could someone provide an example for how these keys can be used please?

suppress --> A list of values to omit from the facet. If the metadata element is a list these should be list item_id's or idno's. For other element types use the label value. No

gender = {
type = attribute,
element_code = sex,
relative_to = ca_entities,
group_mode = none,
facet_groups = [],
label_singular = _("Artist Gender"),
label_plural = _("Artist Genders")

  • This isn't currently supported via browse. Typically you'd make the gender type restricted so the field only appears for certain entity types and that would produce the same result.
