Don't see storage locations wehn trying to add new object

Hello,

I'm struggling to upgrade from v1.4 to v1.7.6.

Trying to add objects, when I typed the first few characters of a collection or storage location, nothing appeared in the drop-down lists, although I can see all my collections and storage locations in Providence. Although, using the Locations Heirarchy viewer, I get a message "Warning: illegal string offset 'NONE' in /var/www/html/Provdence-1.7.6/app/models/ca_editor_uis.php on line 361.

Not seeing a drop down menu looks very like gshistorian's post of December 2018, so I rebuilt the search indices with: dhw@PTArchive1:/var/www/html/providence-1.7.6/support/bin$ ./caUtils rebuild-search-index.
It completed without complaints, and now I can see collections when adding objects, but I still can't see any storage locations - I just get a small rotating cog wheel at the right hand end of the text entry box.

Also, on the home page of Pawtucket2, if I click on "Collections" I get a message (after some Latin text) "No collections available", but if I click on "Browse", I see all of them, but in no obvious order, and no way of changing the order.

I'm out of ideas now, any help would be much appreciated.

David
