Providence 1.7.8

edited January 28 in Installation

I am trying to install Providence 1.7.8 on an existing web site to see if it will be suitable for my needs.

The distribution files have been loaded to a sub-directory /Creative because I wish to keep this separate from other things on the site

The server is a Windows one. It seems whatever I do I get this error message

Fatal error: Configuration files are missing for hostname ''! Please check the CA_BASE_DIR configuration setting in your setup.php file.

I have tried C:/Inetpub/vhosts/ and also /httpdocs/creative but it makes no difference.

Any advice on what the I need to enter will be appreciated.

  • C:/Inetpub/vhosts/ would be what I'd expect to work. Where are you setting this value? And how are you setting it?

    Thank you for responding.
    setup.php is in the Creative directory and after removing comment lines reads:

    define("CA_BASE_DIR", "/httpdocs/Creative");

    define("CA_URL_ROOT", "/Creative");

    define("CA_SITE_HOSTNAME", "");

    if (!defined("CA_DB_HOST")) {
    define("CA_DB_HOST", 'localhost:3306');

    if (!defined("CA_DB_USER")) {
    define("CA_DB_USER", 'CreativeTester');

    if (!defined("CA_DB_PASSWORD")) {
    define("CA_DB_PASSWORD", '(removed)');

    if (!defined("CA_DB_DATABASE")) {
    define("CA_DB_DATABASE", 'CreativeAccessTest');

    if (!defined("CA_APP_DISPLAY_NAME")) {
    define("CA_APP_DISPLAY_NAME", "CollectiveAccess System Test");

    if (!defined("CA_ADMIN_EMAIL")) {
    define("CA_ADMIN_EMAIL", '');

    if (!defined("CA_QUEUE_ENABLED")) {
    define("CA_QUEUE_ENABLED", 0);

    if (!defined("CA_DEFAULT_LOCALE")) {
    define("CA_DEFAULT_LOCALE", "en_UK");

    define("CA_USE_CLEAN_URLS", 0);

    if (!defined("CA_APP_NAME")) {
    define("CA_APP_NAME", "collectiveaccess");

    if (!defined("CA_GOOGLE_MAPS_KEY")) {
    define("CA_GOOGLE_MAPS_KEY", "");

    if (!defined('CA_CACHE_BACKEND')) {
    define('CA_CACHE_BACKEND', 'file');

    if (!defined('CA_STACKTRACE_ON_EXCEPTION')) {
    define('CA_STACKTRACE_ON_EXCEPTION', false);
