GraphicsMagick and Watermarking

Hello! A fairly simple question here. So previously we were running IMagick and watermarks were operating fine. However, in our instance IMagick was not automatically deleting temp files and taking up ridiculous amounts of space. So we've switched to GraphicsMagick where we do not have this issue. Watermarks are very important for our use but support seems to have disappeared after the switch to GraphicsMagick and I've found some conflicting information through the support forum and documentation regarding this. In this thread it appears that it is supported. However, in the documentation it states "Watermarking is only supported for image formats processed by the ImageMagick and IMagick media processing plugins. Watermarking is not supported with GD. If you are having trouble getting watermarking to work make sure your system is actually using ImageMagick/IMagick."

I'm seeking clarification on this. If watermarking is supported by GraphicsMagick why it may have stopped working. Thanks!

  • Watermarking is implemented for GraphicsMagick and Gmagick. I really can't say why it stopped working with GraphicsMagick. Maybe try gmagick? It'll be a lot faster than GraphicsMagick so it's worth installing just for that.

  • We have just installed gmagick onto the server. The configuration says it is available. However, files are now uploading as binary and not being recognized. All other image processors have been working fine prior. (GraphicsMagick, Imagick, and ImageMagick)

  • What version of CA are you running? And what version of GraphicsMagick?

  • CA is 1.7.8 and GraphicsMagick 1.3.33.
