Linebreaks for sub-elements positioning (in container)?

The only way I've currently found for layouting/positioning sub-elements inside a container are to group sub-elements together in another (sub-element) container. If all sub-elements are just added as-is, they all appear in one row - and in the worst case, require horizontal scrolling (and break CA's HTML design. See screenshot)

Since metadata (sub-)elements cannot be re-assigned to a (sub-)container, but need to be deleted and newly created I wanted to ask if there is a better way to layout sub-elements in a container?!
