Understanding mapping file

This might be basic, but i have some questions about the creation of the mapping file.

1- How do i associate records in a excel file to a specific collection inside CA, instead of isolated records?
2- Are there any CA hard coded fields that must always be mapped?


  • Hi Pedro,

    1. You'd use a collectionSplitter to link imported records to a collection. Normally you'd have the splitter match (or create) collections dynamically based upon the content of your data set, but you could also use a constant value if you just want to tag everything with a specific set.

    2. At a minimum you'll need to map identifier ("idno"; ex. ca_objects.idno) and a preferred label. Type must also be specified, but this can be either mapped from data (using "type_id" - ex. ca_objects.type_id) or set for the entire mapping using the "type" setting.
